About the Employer

The Irvine Unified School District comprises a diverse population of more than 36,000 PK-12 students in one early childhood learning center, 24 elementary schools, five K-8 schools, six middle schools, five high schools and one alternative high school. IUSD schools have been nationally recognized for comprehensive programs in academics, the arts, and athletics.

Job Description / Essential Elements:

Under general supervision, to perform a variety of Braille translation and transcribing functions and activities; to assist in the learning experience of the visually impaired; to perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel; and to do related work as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by additional courses in college or associates degree. Experience working with the visually impaired preferred. Possession of a Library of Congress Certificate demonstrating efficiency as a Braille Transcriber, or will obtain within one year of hire.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: •Incumbents may be required to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification from an authorized agency within a designated probationary period. •Successful passage of the District's Proficiency Test or have passed the CBEST. •Possession of a valid California Driver's License

Requirements / Qualifications

Applicants are required to have passed their 6 month probationary period in their current position before being eligible to apply for a new position. If you aren't sure if you have passed your probationary period please contact Human Resources at 949-936-5130.

Candidates need to hold an AA or BA degree earned in the U.S. or have passed the IUSD Proficiency Test or have a passing CBEST score. If you are not currently an IA with IUSD please attach proof of one of these to the application.
