Controller

Location: Edgewood, MD

Position Overview
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment and be adept at managing budgets, forecasts, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures
• Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial statements
• Monitor and manage overhead, labor costs, and other expenses
• Conduct variance analysis and report on financial performance
• Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies
• Implement and maintain internal controls to mitigate risks
• Provide strategic financial insights to management for decision-making
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
• Other duties as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in cost accounting and financial management
• MBA, CPA, or CMA certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting practices
• Familiarity with DoD and government contracts is a plus
• Experience with SAP is preferred
• Proficient in Excel and financial modeling
• Strong analytical and technical skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
