Job Description

Our client, a proprietary trading firm and market maker, is seeking an Equity Research Analyst focused on the Financials sector for their Chicago, IL office.

Please note - candidates * must * have 3+ years of Analyst experience covering the Financials sector.

As a Fundamental Equity Research Analyst, you will influence trading decisions and daily positions from the trading desk. With your experience in the Financials sector, you will manage research-driven trading positions with direct PnL impact.

What you’ll do :

You will leverage current events and your research expertise to influence the team’s trading decisions. Working closely with Traders, Researchers and Data Scientists, you will creatively solve problems and identify new trading opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• Identifying event-driven trade opportunities and collaborating with traders to capitalize on these opportunities, focusing on maximizing your impact on overall desk PnL.
• Performing scenario analysis for relevant upcoming events, analyzing time-sensitive headlines for companies within your coverage sector(s) and predicting their impact on volatility and/or stock prices.
• Contributing to the growth of our fundamental research team by developing processes to monetize fundamentally driven trading ideas.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience covering the Financials sector, with a proven track record in idea generation and investments.
• Bachelor’s degree (CFA preferred, but not required).
• Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.
